Are you pregnant?
For a mother, it’s the most beautiful experience.
When you become pregnant, you may go through a number of experiences such as glowy skin, and a cute baby bump (especially if you’re 20 to 30 weeks in already).
As interesting as it may sound, many mothers of a soon-to-born child are often skeptical about going for a maternity shoot. But, if you’re one of those who want to capture this beautiful moment, I have got some good news for you!
I offer customized maternity shoots that are perfect for flaunting your baby bump. Whether you want to do it solo or with your partner, I will make it happen for you.
How I Do Maternity Shoots at Giggles Newborn Studio?
Maternity photoshoots are among the most valuable and intriguing photo sessions that many mothers deeply crave. It’s that particularly special time when you want a professional photographer to capture all your raw emotions which are associated with your pregnancy and besides, you want a shoot that is custom-tailored to your requirements.
While clients usually come to me with many great ideas, I normally explain to them how they can prepare and be ready for the shoot. Mostly, if they have elevated stress and are uncomfortable, the photographs might not be up to par. Therefore, to make your maternity shoot fun and hassle-free, here is what we do to create photographs that come out as spectacular.
Step # 1: The Booking
When a soon-to-be mom contacts me to schedule an appointment, I normally pre-book them between their 20th and 34th weeks. This is because the baby bump is quite visible during this time and the mother is not yet in the uncomfortably large stage.
Step # 2: The Consultation
I sit down with the parents and discuss the details of the maternity shoot. This is regarding what they are looking for, their style, any special requests that they may have, and also what to wear. Usually, I prefer to perform maternity photoshoots in gowns. I do have some custom options at my studio for them, but if they are interested in something else, I can provide them with a contact of a gown stylist as well. They usually have a wide variety for them to choose from. Or they can even custom design one for their specific occasion. Whatever they think is best!
After all, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime moment.
Step # 3: The Shoot
The maternity photoshoot usually takes 1 to 2 hours. I take pictures in a number of positions and also with a few different props. The props are mainly to make the pictures more visually appealing and interesting, but if the parents have any specific requests, I am more than happy to incorporate them.
Step # 4: The Gallery Proofing
The gallery proofing is where I share the images with my clients and request them to select the ones they like best. They cherry-pick the ones they love and I get to work on editing the selected images.
The sooner you choose them, the quicker I will be in delivering the photographs.
Step # 5: The Reveal & Delivery
The final step is the big reveal & the delivery. It takes up to 12-14 days for me to properly edit & retouch the photographs. Once that is complete, we schedule an appointment for them to come back and see the final product. Or we simply dispatch the digital formats through emails based on our client’s convenience.
This is my usual process for maternity photoshoots, but as I mentioned before, I am always open to new ideas.
A Few Tips for You to Consider Before The Shoot
I often recommend clients take these precautionary measures before they plan for a maternity photoshoot.
- Get your nails done and polished.
- Get a face massage and beauty treatment for a better glow.
- Wear something comfortable that you feel great in.
- Avoid caffeine or energy drinks before the shoot.
- Bring your partner or a friend along for support.
- Eat something light before the shoot so you’re not feeling bloated.
Motherhood is a special feeling. If you’ve just started down that path and if it’s your firstborn, you may want to make the moment really beautiful. At Giggles Newborn Studio, I have helped many soon-to-be moms create beautiful memories that they will cherish for a lifetime.
I understand how important these maternity photographs are and I always give my best to make sure that each project is given the time and attention it deserves.
